I took a Contact Reflex Analysis seminar in the early 1990s from Dr. Dick A. Versendaal, Chiropractor. When I attended Western States Chiropractic College, there was a more casual and open attitude about constituted effective diagnosis and treatment, with a number of interns and supervising Chiropractors using Contact Reflex Analysis. And of course, the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners (OBCE) authorized Contact Reflex Analysis as a system of diagnosis and treatment in 1994 and then again in 2009.

Based on an authorization of Contact Reflex Analysis by the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners, they are also supporting the use of the technique to diagnose and treat a wide range of diseases. However, in a clinical study using Contact Reflex Analysis or possibly another version of muscle strength response called Nutrition Response Testing from the Ulan Organization (associated with Standard Process for the manufacture of food based supplements), I will focus more on general feedback about the body’s acceptance of my products as healthy or not. I will not be trying to diagnose organ and gland disease or diseases of various systems as carried out in Chiropractic practices with these systems, but simply to look for positive muscle strength feedback to determine a percentage of positive versus negative for subjects in the study.

Over the years many different muscle strength systems have been used as a method to diagnose both subluxations in the spine and to determine a regime of natural supplements, with the Standard Process line of products being the usual choice for the products to test. However, this testing has evolved into a much more sophisticated endeavor that can pinpoint specific organs and glands that are weak or strong and even, according to Dr. Dick Versendaal, the exact disease involved. The goal is to use Standard Process supplements, or any line of products for that matter, to rebalance the organs and glands and treat and cure any diseases discovered from the testing method.

The principle is very simple when it comes to muscle strength testing to check for appropriate natural supplements, involved organs and even specific diseases. The Chiropractor tests the arm of a subject by pulling down on it to establish base line strength. This usually involves the patient holding out an arm straight and then the doctor pushes down while the patient pushes up. To test for organ involvement, the Nutritional Response Testing associated with the Standard Process line of products, the doctor places a hand on the organ area of the body and then pushes down on the arm. If the muscle strength response is weak, then the organ is diseased, versus a strong response that signifies a healthy organ. The doctor pushes down on the arm and if weak it will fall away quickly. If there is a strong response the arm will effectively resist the push.

To test a supplement, the patient holds the product in their hand or puts the supplement on top of the body where the weak organ is located. The best natural supplement will be determined in this manner based on the strongest muscle strength response.

In my proposed study as Chief Technologist and Director of R&D for Health Breakthroughs International, LLC (HBI), the subject will simply hold a bottle of my products, one after another and the muscle strength test will be used to determine if the response gets stronger or weaker. All of my natural supplements and even my technologies will be tested in this manner. This same procedure can be used for any number of subjects, but fifty subjects are more desirable in terms of statistical relevance.

Since double blind has never been carried out with any of these muscle response testing methods to determine reliability and consistency, I will not attempt to do so in my study. Instead, it is generally accepted in Chiropractic as a whole, schools, boards and the doctors in the field, that this kind of diagnostic tool is reliable to such a degree that no one has actually attempted to conduct a double blind study for peer review publication. I am not interested in doing so myself as this would require a cadre of personnel and a sophisticated set up.

I will be the doctor testing the subjects to gain a response to all the supplements. I could very easily complete this study in one day and then publish the results. Based on authorization of these sorts of muscle response testing methods by the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners, this kind of testing will further support that my natural supplement inventions are healthy for people to take, including patients in a Chiropractic practice. Also, when all the results are available from my one day study, I will present the findings at an OBCE meeting for the members, appointed by the Governor and approved by the legislature, to then give me feedback about specific approval for all my natural supplements and technologies that tested positive and therefore are healthy to be used in a Chiropractic practice. This approval can then be published in the OBCE guidelines.

I have not treated patients since 1997 in New York City. I returned to Oregon to develop my natural supplement and technology business that year and did not attempt to start a Chiropractic practice again. However, I believe it would be interesting to locate twenty to fifty subjects, and carry out generalized testing that involves muscle reflex testing in order to find out if my natural supplements demonstrate positive feedback.

When I was in NY City I tested my first product, MPS GOLD 100, with a number of patients, using Contact Reflex Analysis. Every single patient tested positive for this supplement, which is not a surprise based on the universal need for glyconutrients to support the immune system.

A number of doctors have reported to me over the last several years that different versions of Contact Reflex Analysis have proven that my natural supplements test positively for most of their patients. Of course, in the context of many doctor's practices they are testing my natural supplements for the treatment of disease. The research project I am proposing is not with patients but rather only with subjects who agree to be tested with the Contact Reflex Analysis to gain an understanding of how many of the subjects should be taking my products from a general holistic health perspective. A percentage number can be derived to show a contrast between yes and no when it comes to taking my products. I need to take the feedback from doctors around the world about their positive experiences about my supplements using different versions of Contact Reflex Analysis and develop an organized study with several subjects.

All subjects in this study must be 21 years of age and will be required to sign off on appropriate paperwork that takes care of permission to be in the study and releases Health Breakthroughs International, LLC and all employees from any claims of harm. Since I am not attempting to research any kind of disease and only looking for the most basic positive versus negative feedback from using a muscle strength response test, I will not need United States Food and Drug Administration approval to go through with this study.

No subject in my study will be considered a patient, which is absolutely important to clarify. Not being a patient or being a patient presents totally different parameters for conducting a study: there is no attempt to diagnose and or treat disease in this study in order to determine if my products come up positive for the test subjects. Only the most general response, positive or negative, is looked for using Contact Reflex Analysis type testing. All of the natural supplements I have developed are totally safe and food based. However, no one in this study will be consuming products as a part of the testing. All testing will be specifically based on making contact between the body and the products while measuring muscle reflex responses elicited to validate whether or not any given product is beneficial to each subject.
